Strategic Plan

The College implements an annual strategic planning process to determine the short term strategies that will support its Mission and long term Vision. Using this process, the Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) integrates input from the major policy committees, councils and Board of Governors (BOG) to develop the Strategic Plan that is presented annually to the Board of Regents (BOR) for approval.

The following components structure and describe ACP’s strategies:

  • Theme – high-level outcome (what we ultimately want to achieve)
  • Objective – specific goals or results (how we will achieve the outcome)
  • Initiatives – projects/activities to achieve the objective (what we will do)
  • Performance Indicators – specific measurement strategies to assess our progress

ACP’s Strategic Plan outlines the themes and objectives that are the short term (1-3 years) focus of the College’s efforts. A theme may be supported by multiple objectives. Each objective in the Plan is assigned to one or more committee/council. Performance indicators specifying unique targets for each objective allow us to track progress and assess the outcomes of activities during the fiscal year.

Each year the current themes and objectives are systematically reviewed to refocus or reaffirm the College’s strategic direction. Themes and objectives may be revised for the upcoming fiscal year, based on current events in the healthcare environment, and suggestions from the BOG through the Resolutions process.

Often, more than one committee/council works toward a single objective, and several committees/councils may be involved in the objectives for a strategic theme, necessitating a coordinated effort.
